Saturn the Boundary Buster
Issue 24 Volume 8 9 June 2025
There are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect.~~ Ronald Reagan (1911 – 2004) an American actor, 40th president of the United States, and undercover yogi 😄 Image Credit:© 2024 – 2025 BadgerCMYKAstrology Monday:
Just the facts, please!
An American icon from 60s television, hard-boiled detective Joe Friday always insists on “just the facts”.
This week’s no-nonsense forecast:
Jupiter in Cancer!! 🥳
Jupiter begins a two year journey through Cancer and Leo promising expansion and optimism and helps to offset Saturn’s rather dry bedside manner. However, it won’t really get going until it leaves Saturn’s aspect after 21 June. Selfless intent helps smooth the ride.
If your sun-sign is Aries, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, or Pisces, be watchful of over-optimism or its opposite, melancholy. Your answer is between the two.
If your sun-sign is Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn, or Aquarius, keep your chin up and put your eggs in the humanitarian basket. Things are bumpy, but worse than they seem.
Chance encounters
Venus and Uranus in Taurus can indicate chance encounters and unexpected events in relations which cause you to consider more deeply what you want from others. Uranus forces authenticity.
Choose expansion over survival; courage over fear
Saturn’s foray into Aries creates a bumpy road. Our need to survive diminishes Jupiters brilliance and optimism. Allow enthusiasm to guide necessary choices, not your pain body, worry, or concern. Prudence is good; anxiety not. Saturn in Aries can bring needed change. Look below the surface of life events. The deeper you go, the clearer it is.
Strengthen your foundation
Saturn in Aries is a bit like a ship at sea taking on water during a storm. Knowing what to keep and what to throw overboard can be confusing. Seek a safe harbour through the healthy masculine (authenticity and generosity). Act on your loftiest goals and activate your heart chakra through nature, song, art, and devotion. This is not the time for sensuality and sense gratification, but for sensible action and sensitivity.
Quick World View
A challenging period thru June 21 reveals good intentions (Jupiter) meeting resistance (Saturn). The great puzzle, of course, is deciding whose intentions are good and whose are not. Life is rarely what it seems for the eyes sees what it wants to see. The world needs more objective thinking and less emotional outbursts. Note: The EU has entered a 7.5 year period that will bring significant change — the next 3 years bring tumult, then a more even keel.Questions? Send your questions and feedback here. Questions will be answered in future issues as long as they are relevant to a broad audience. Specific questions require a scheduled reading. The whole effort of the spiritual process is to break the boundaries you have drawn for yourself and experience the immensity that you are.
~ Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of Isha Foundation, a spiritual organisation focused on physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing for everyone
Dear wonderful neighbour and fellow traveller;
As a mystic who embraces yoga science and philosophy, I am quite optimistic about the road human beings are traveling. On the other hand, as an astrologer/archaeologist, I always make sure my seat belt is securely latched. It takes skilful driving to avoid the potholes, traffic jams, and unnecessary detours, a tall task for humanity, but a real possibility for the individual — global harmony begins with us.
I am going to go out on the proverbial limb and make a declaration: though Saturn is now in its ‘fall’ (Aries), the road ahead has the potential and possibility to be one of the best periods of your life. Will there be increased friction and turmoil over the next three years for you and the rest of humanity? Absolutely. You can count on it, but each of us have the potential to turn Saturn’s fall into a resurrection
If your eyes are fixed on the rear-view mirror, you’ll miss that important turn coming up. ~ Richard Branson, English business magnate and entrepreneur
Make no mistake; your boundaries are at risk. Saturn means boundaries and in the home of Mars (Aries), your boundaries will be pushed, pulled, and tested and retested. And this is a good thing. If you remain as you are, you will continue to be tossed asunder in an endless cycle of pleasant and unpleasant experiences. One day you own the world because you have what you want, then the morrow finds you battling anxiety because what was once a tailwind has now become a gale against you. There is a safe harbour and Saturn in Aries will help you find it as long as you understand the process.
Saturn is both boundary and boundary buster. As an extension of your karmic trauma, Saturn is the walls you have created to protect yourself from more trauma, but just like an adult who is afraid to venture outside their house because of a traumatic experience as a child, the fear that holds up your self-created boundaries is a figment of your pain body. It holds no reality. Saturn is both the disease and the medicine. Through self-effort, applied discipline, perseverance, steadfastness, objectivity, and grounded living, you begin to change the narrative.
This is not easy to do on our own, of course, so Saturn uses our own karma to free ourself. Saturn comes along as a “bad time” from our own karmic imprint to push us to greater depths of understanding and greater heights of wisdom. Saturn is change and only through change can we be transformed from what we are not to what we are like the caterpillar who is turned to mush inside the chrysalis only to emerge as a butterfly. Saturn is your Superman, the force of dispassion who wears an ‘S’ on his chest, the S of Shiva, the Adiyogi who resides in you as you.
For the next three years, let go and allow yourself to be reborn. Saturn in Aries is an opportunity to discover where you are stuck, a tremendous blessing, for to see clearly is half the battle won. Then, through the power of Mars (Aries) you’ll have a clear direction. In this way, you’ll need no Google Maps: the star by which you guide your life will be the one within you, the one that has always been with you, and the one that will always lead you to safe harbour.

The Sun in Gemini, a sign ruled by Mercury, highlights an individual who is witty, charming, light-hearted and intellectually engaging. Geminis can be mercurial, but they tend not to hold onto their emotions for long. They are flexible and have a discerning eye. They can quickly size up any situation and though they cannot resist the need to explore and experience what’s available, they are eager to share what they learn with others. They embrace logic and reason and enjoy a good puzzle or conundrum.
20 May — 21 June
Sun in Aditya Varuna…
Fun Fact: Zodiac comes from the Greek zodiakos (kyklos) which literally means “circle of little animals” and reveals how astrological knowledge was shared between the cultures of Greece and India beginning in the time of Alexander the Great. For thousands of years before the Greeks, the Vedic culture used a 12-part circle which represented 12 aspects of the Sun. These Adityas offer us fascinating insights into our human potential.
The Aditya that corresponds to the Greek zodiacal sign of Gemini is Varuna which symbolises the all embracing Love that holds within itself the whole of creation. Jupiter does very well here and will be in Varuna thru June 2026.
When the Sun is in Varuna, God is directing your attention to the benevolent Mother who watches over her brood (creation) with great Love. Varuna is about being okay with whatever happens. This comes from an understanding that what is created is not different from the Creator. In this way, whatever happens in your personal life this month, pleasant or not, consider thoughtfully how what happened relates to your personal unfoldment as a complete human being. If pleasant, seek the source within you of that pleasantness. If challenging, look for a repeating cycle. With awareness and willingness, you can put an end to an unpleasant cycle of karma.

Moon Planner
Has the Moon got you hurried and harried?
No worries! The Moon represents your capacity to receive, a feminine quality, and recognising the resources you have available to fulfil your emotional needs. Too often, we get distracted with what is not ours to have and miss out on the available opportunity, experiencing disappointment and disillusionment, or worse, we become like my friend, Monsieur Lou Garou. 🤭
Full Moon in Sagittarius
Wednesday, 11 May: Full Moon in Sagittarius (07:43 GMT)
Full moons magnify your emotional mind, good or bad. There is science behind this: just as full moons create higher than usual tides on earth, so there is a natural draw of fluids into your brain. Full moons are a great opportunity to access profound emotions through spiritual practice and alone time bringing you deeper insights and intuition.
The Sagittarius Full Moon picks up a nice influence from Jupiter both by virtue of being in Jupiter’s sign as well as an aspect from Jupiter. The Moon represents our needs and Jupiter energises the need to benefit those around us. However, Saturn’s aspect on Jupiter is putting survival and selfish intent at the forefront for some in the news.
Emotions are not meant to destroy life; they are part of nature’s way of enhancing life. Yet, every day our emotions rain destruction upon ourselves and others because we allow the survival mechanism to influence their expression. Contrary to popular opinion, life is not about “me”; life is a multiplayer game where the only rule is to express yourself as a piece of the Cosmos. This is not selfish; it’s about experiencing yourself as a part of the whole.
The bright half of the moon cycle is an opportunity to expand your capacity for emotional expression in a healthy way using the resources available to you. During the dark half, there is a natural drawing down of the attention which is useful for examining what you consider is a need. Ask yourself what is it that thinks it needs to survive even when you are in the quiet of your home or at the dinner table…
Sagittarius is the fire of purification. Allow yourself to be open to the fire of Love that will come to you in unexpected ways. Love is not always teddy bears and puppies… Love is the power of God that transforms. Only through fire does ore become gold.
Mother’s milk from mother Moon: Gurumayi of the Siddha lineage once shared with us two practical ways to imbibe the full moon energy. The first is to simply go somewhere quiet and gaze at the beauty of the full moon for an extended time paying close attention to the source of the feelings that arise within you. Another is to leave milk in a clear, covered glass overnight in a window sill where it will catch the full moon’s rays. In the morning, consume the milk. Milk easily absorbs positive energy as well as neutralise negative energy, Milk is used to purify jewellery of negative energies or unhelpful karmas that may be associated with the jewellery maker or previous owners. You can also do this as a jewellery rejuvenator every six months or so to keep your jewellery energetically fresh. It is best to use organic whole milk, raw if possible.Important upcoming dates (2025)

Breaking down is easy; breaking “up” is hard to do
Judging by your questions and concerns, many of you have taken the position that any breakdown of the status quo is a bad thing becomes the source of your worries and anxiety about the future. Should we be worried? Is it possible that we are experiencing a natural pushback on decades of authoritarianism by machiavellian do-gooders? 🤔
First, understand that authoritarianism has been around since the mammoths. Second, authoritarianism is neither right nor left; indeed, for those who seek to forcefully seek to shape the world to their view, the active political power structure is of no real concern — they simply adjust their mechanisms of control to reflect the current government.
What I notice as a major misunderstanding among astrologers, especially Vedic astrologers, is a tendency to only equate Saturn with generational traditions that are deeply rooted in the fabric of society. Saturn does embrace such traditions, but it also represents more recent societal structures and trends that have established themselves over a shorter period of time. What we are seeing in the world today, is a breaking apart of these structures, especially those that took root during the pandemic years. Is this change beneficial or harmful?
Without writing a major essay on political power structures and trends, we can simply observe what has been happening since the covid pandemic when Saturn was very strong and Jupiter very weak. Saturn is a natural disruptor, a boundary buster, and represents authority, government, and karmic pay-off. Yet, Saturn needs a strong supporting cast, namely Jupiter, lest it become destructive. Jupiter, however, the planet of good intentions, wisdom, and good fortune has been weakened five of the past six years either by sign or by Saturn’s aspect, sometimes both. Fortunately, Jupiter enters Cancer today signalling a two year run (Cancer and Leo) that offers us an opportunity to see what has been hiding in plain site since at least the 1990s.
When supported, Saturn is the ability to see things as they are, after all the pretence and nonsense of our conditioning has been stripped away through trial and tribulation. Though Saturn often represents the trauma within us we unleash upon the world, it is also the illumined stillness we experience when our minds are no longer modified by the past. Saturn is the universal truth that resides in you and me and it is truth that Saturn is attracted to like a moth to a flame. When you go against your Saturn, you invite challenge because Saturn wants nothing to do with your self-imposed conditioning that makes you limited and weak. The same with humanity as a whole.
What we see in the world today is a breakdown of harmful structures and “ways of doing business” that really began to accelerate in the 1990s. The only reason there is so much resistance now is because we are so entrenched in a tribalistic way of thinking. Rather than step back and actually give our brain a rest from all the thinking, we cling deeper to the nonsense that we have believed for lifetimes, beliefs that are fed by the mainstream media and politicians on both the right and left. They have a captive audience, one that needs regular feeding, and they are happy to make sure we are well-fed, for if we were to go hungry, we would actually begin to think for ourselves. Independent thinkers are always the first casualties of oppression.
If this seems harsh, it is only to suggest doing what the enlightened ones have told us since forever. On the political spectrum, enlightened spiritual masters identify with neither left, nor right, nor anywhere in between. After all, infinite freedom grants infinite possibility. This does not mean, however, they do not have any ideas about how to move forward. They do, but their suggestions always reflect the freedom they imbibe.
Tribalism is not helpful. In fact, it is destructive and rests at the very core of societal discord. Think for yourself. When you do, you will come to realise that Saturn is your greatest friend, the Great Equaliser who is a stern taskmaster, but a just one. Allow the Greatness of Saturn to permeate your entire being.
🙏🏻Hero’s Journey
The journey of the hero is about the courage to seek the depths; the image of creative rebirth; the eternal cycle of change within us; the uncanny discovery that the seeker is the mystery which the seeker seeks to know. ~ Joseph Campbell,True gurus are those who have reached the highest expression of human potential and help us find the way. I most often quote Sadhguru and highlight his practices and events simply because he is arguably the most publicly available guru today. Initially, his mission on Earth was to install the Dhyanalinga, an energy form not seen for over 2000 years, but something wonderful happened after his body recovered from the enormous energy drain of such a profound process: he decided to stick around to touch the lives of as many as possible… 😉 Free and low cost programmes and discounts…

This Week’s Focus
Saturn and the Muladhara Chakra
Issue 23 Volume 8 2 June 2025
When we do yoga, we are more focused on the muladhara than anything else because if you stabilize this, the rest is easy to create. If the foundation of the building is loose and we try to hold up the building, it will be a daily circus.
That is what has happened to human life. Holding themselves in some state of balance and wellbeing… every day is a circus for most human beings. If the foundation is unstable, anxiety is natural. But if your muladhara is stable, life or death, you will be stable because your foundation is good…

This week’s no-nonsense forecast:
Chance encounters
Venus enters Taurus where Uranus can create unexpected meetings and chance encounters which cause you to consider more deeply what you want from others. Uranus forces you to be authentic.
Stay true to your heart
Mercury conjuncts Jupiter in Gemini (Varuna) and helps us discern and dissect and bring rewards related to information, business, and group activities. Jupiter can become too focused on external fulfilment. Stay true to your heart and avoid getting bogged down in dead ends or false promises.

A challenging period thru June 21 reveals good intentions (Jupiter) meeting resistance (Saturn). For the UK, expect people becoming increasingly frustrated with out of control immigration and for the US, continued legal battles for the Trump administration and budget wrangling. ~ Yi-Fu Tuan (1930 — 2022) Chinese-American geographer; originator of humanistic geography
Dear wonderful neighbour and fellow traveller;
Consciousness underlies all existence, including what you call you. Consciousness is Love. When we’re plugged in, everything in our life blossoms and we experience love and bliss and contentment. It is closer than a thought and only a moment away. Your task is to make this sublime moment your ongoing reality…
Burntisland is a wonderful little coastal village on the Scottish coast. It’s small enough to know everyone by name and big enough to have all the trimmings that make life colourful and alive. There’s an amazing organic bakery second to none, a hardware store that offers everything from finishing nails to curtain rods to carpenter’s squares, and a ‘Veggie Man” who can sell you fine Italian tomatoes just as easily as local grown strawberries pesticide free.
Place… and space; the two are intertwined though each points to different aspects of time — without time, place and space do not exist. Place is where we are and space is what exists between places. Can we ever overestimate the importance of these two as long as we have a body? Home is where the heart is and for now, Burntisland has captured my heart. However, it’s important to understand that place should not become another ball and chain, but an expression of who you are. When that expression changes, you may find your place changes, too.
Fundamentally, I find fulfilment when I help others experience God in the world whether through the written word, astrology, or simply in chatting with a stranger. This is most closely aligned to ‘space’ and has formed the bedrock of my life on Earth — it is a natural expression of who I am. In the boyhood days of long ago, I would often awake before anyone else to slip on my insulated wellies and venture into the November woods. Feeling at home in the stillness of a light falling snow, I’d use an old stump for a chair and simply sit… no purpose save to witness life around me. I think back on those mornings and that young fellow who sat in such quietude. He certainly was not thinking of places to see or adventures to capture; where he sat was both the destination and the journey. The stump was his place; the woods his space…
Saturn is aligned with the muladhara chakra. Mula is Sanskrit for root or foundation and highlights the importance of Saturn in astrology. In the kingdom of the planets, Saturn is the castle that offers protection and a firm foundation upon which the other planets express their qualities. When Saturn is weak or afflicted, the other planets are unable to properly fulfil their roles and their associated aspects of our life suffer.
Saturn and the muladhara chakra are vital to a steady and balanced life. Sadhguru tells us that without a strong foundation, we will not even be able to sit still. This is why, he said, most yogic practices and asanas are designed to strengthen the muladhara chakra. How can we glimpse eternity if we cannot even embrace more than a few moments of stillness?
Sadhguru: When we talk about balance, we are not talking about sanity, we are talking about finding that perch between sanity and insanity where you can venture and adventure. Madness is an adventure. It is a most wonderful thing as long as it is in control. If you lose control it will become ugly. Similarly, sanity is a beautiful thing but if you become perfectly sane, you are as good as dead. This ability to venture and adventure into whatever you want at any moment will come to you if your muladhara is well-established (Sadhguru, Mystic Musings, 2017).May your Saturn find you resolute and loving.

Astrology of Now
Disclaimer: I hold no party affiliation and have supported both sides of the aisle with my vote. My aim is to offer you an unbiased perspective of world events through the lens of archaeology, astrology, and yoga.Saturn Now
Though Saturn has been playing a pivotal role in human affairs since at least the pandemic, the world has entered into a critical 3-yr period marked by Saturn’s debilitation into Aries. Saturn oversees the 10th and 11th houses which relate to those aspects of life that require prolonged effort: work, activity, status, material gain, plans, social harmony, government responsibilities, and the dispensing of authority. Saturn rules longevity and death, karmic debt, chronic illness, and old age. When strong, Saturn perseveres, endures, and embraces the discipline necessary to fulfil our obligations and responsibilities. Saturn is the foundation, the root, the ground upon which things are built and established. Saturn is the rule of law, tradition and culture, and what follows one generation to the next.
Saturn became debilitated in Aries on 25 May and will be there thru 31 August when it will retreat back into Pisces. February 14, 2026, Saturn renters Aries and stays there through 2028. This is a critical time for not only the world, but for you. This summer will be a preview of the next 3 yrs, so you can tighten up what needs to be tightened, and let go what is not serving you.
Saturn and You
Saturn is what keeps your feet on the ground either because you have imbibed the lesson needed or because your sense of pride has been pummelled into submission by trial and tribulation. Saturn has a reputation as a stern schoolmaster who uses the school of hard knocks to get you to become real and authentic. Under Saturn’s care, pretence is scrubbed away even as we pay off our past karmic debts.
For the next three years, it is important to understand that Saturn is another aspect of your unpretentious yearning to see the world and your existence as it really is. Any contrived, emotional, or conditioned perspectives will be quashed under a more objective eye. Saturn’s influence often means change since Saturn plays the role of disruptor and heralds a period of ‘correction’. If you have been lying to yourself, Saturn will help you get back on track. 😁
Tips: Saturn in Aries indicates a lack of vision caused by fearing something imagined, then shifts to the fear of the unknown when it falls back into Pisces from 1 SEP thru 14 FEB and back again to imagined fear after 14 FEB. To stay objective, strengthen your foundation. This includes your body thru proper diet and exercise, your mind thru exercising your creative intellect, and your energy body through processes that strengthen your muladhara chakra, especially hatha yoga and meditation. To find hatha yoga programmes in your area by Isha certified teachers, check out this link.
Important: Those of you born with either Saturn in Aries or the Moon in Pisces, Aries, or Taurus will likely experience this period with a sharp intensity. As a general rule of thumb, Saturn pushes you through limitation. if you feel Saturn’s intensity rise, seek to understand what you are holding onto that should be abandoned. Saturn is the power to resist which is, in essence, the power to let go. Though Saturn is stern, it wants the best for you. After all, Saturn IS you. 😉
Saturn and the World
Saturn rules the western direction. In Aries, it can mean adversaries or calamities from or in the West. For America, this can indicate war/conflict with China and/or natural disasters in the western part of the US. In Europe, this can mean calamities in western Europe and/or continued discord with the US. Saturn rules the earth element so we may see an uptick in earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, mine cave-ins, sinkholes, etc.
Tips: Those of you who live in areas with a higher potential for natural disasters such as the American West Coast, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, northern India, the Carpathian
region, etc., can make sure you have contingency plans and at least a few days of rations and water on hand as well as emergency supplies. When I lived in northern California, for example, I bought a quality hand operated water filtration system, first aid kit, a hand-cranked emergency radio, propane stove, etc. I always had sacks of rice and beans and canned goods on hand. You can go online to find out what a preparedness kit contains specific to your area.
This is not saying you will experience a natural disaster; it is saying to use common sense. As the boy Scouts tell us, “Be prepared!”Practical Vedanta
Tips to strengthen your inner and outer foundation through practical livingTwo ‘from-scratch recipes’ to support your body, mind, and spirit
As someone who gets high from making healthy foodstuffs from scratch, I wanted to share a wonderful recipe for millet bread I discovered this winter and a homemade jam recipe I have been using for a couple of years. I’m definitely neither a baker nor chef, but I like to have fun in the kitchen. Sometimes my concoctions work, and sometimes it’s the garden critters that enjoy them most. The point is there is an intimate and very real connection between the body human, including the mind, and the food we eat. When we take the time to consciously prepare and eat our food, that connection is energised and both our mind and body benefit.
Gluten-free, vegan millet bread: Sadhguru has spoken very enthusiastically about millet. It’s gluten-free, low glycemic, and has no lectins — anti-nutrients plants use as a defence mechanism against pests including us humans. There are ways to counter lectins, e.g. fermenting, soaking, and pressure cooking. However, I value my time, so when I discovered millet has no lectins, I was already hooked. Then I made this delicious bread and became enamoured. It is so satisfying. What’s more, as many of you can attest, there is just something magical about making and baking your own food from scratch, not to mention the health benefits.
I tried a few millet bread recipes, but this one from ‘Natasha’ turned out to be exactly what I was looking for: a tasty, moist bread easy to make using only millet flour. The basic recipe is a gluten-free, vegan, yeast bread, but can easily be made into a sourdough. To make sure I am getting the freshest flour possible, I grind organic millet in a coffee grinder as needed. I cut the recipe in half for my needs and substituted double cream for the oil (I am not vegan). Since I am baking in a toaster oven, I bake at a lower temperature and discovered that if I begin at 120 C for 15 minutes, then 135 C for another 40 minutes or so, I can let the dough rise higher without it collapsing. I also coat the top with egg to give it a nice even, brown crust and I use a sheet of tinfoil placed on top to regulate the amount of browning I want. I suggest following the recipe exactly the first time, then experimenting with what works for you. Enjoy! https://www.natashashome.com/millet-bread/
Chia-seed jam recipe: While it’s true Grandma might exclaim, “That ain’t no jam!” what’s great about this recipe is that it is simple, healthy, and if you close your eyes, it might even take you back to your childhood. As it is, the basic recipe is simple: cook two cups of fruit of your choice in a saucepan until it is soft. Mush it with a fork or potato masher. Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds. As it cools, the mix will thicken up and have a jam-like consistency. You can also add a sweetener of your choice and a touch of lemon juice. It can be stored in the fridge for a week or two.
Update: Chia seeds are also high in lectins which can upset some people’s stomach. I have since discovered that you can substitute psyllium husk for the chia, though you will likely need to add a tablespoon or two of water. I have yet to test this version.
My quick and easy raw chia jam recipe: Always wanting to preserve as much of the fruit’s nutrients and antioxidants as I can, I did not like the idea of cooking the fruit. Though it won’t last as long in the fridge, I put 3/4 cup of blueberries, a half an apple (peeled), 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, a tablespoon of jaggery (a low-processed sugar from India) and a 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. Yum! This morning I put some on my millet toast and I was blissed!
Note:* Note: I use organic local ingredients whenever I can. For those items not available locally including organic millet and psyllium husk, I use a wonderful company in the UK with great prices and deals on bulk items: https://www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk/Hero’s Journey

Though many may exist, I most often quote Sadhguru and highlight his practices and events simply because he is arguably the most available guru today. Initially, his mission on Earth was to install the Dhyanalinga, an energy form not seen on Earth for over 2000 years, but something wonderful happened after his body recovered from the enormous energy drain of such a profound process: he decided to stick around to touch the lives of as many as possible… 😉 Free and low cost programmes and discounts…

Saturn and Jupiter and the good life
Issue 22 Volume 8 26 May 2025
So, do not try to put up a recipe for your success. Success is only when you are able to use yourself to your full potential. It doesn’t matter whether you become a doctor, or a politician, or a yogi, or what the hell you become — is not the thing. Success means you are living your life to your full potential. That’s what success means. If that has to happen, you need perception and an active intelligence.~~ Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, bestselling author, yogi, mystic, humanitarian

Astrology Monday:
Just the facts, please!
In the land of ’60s American television, hard-boiled detective Joe Friday always insisted on “just the facts”. Here’s this week’s no-nonsense forecast:
25 May thru 1 Sept — Saturn in Aries (Aryamaa)
Vedic astrology: Saturn in Aries is a bit like a ship at sea taking on water during a storm. Knowing what to keep and what to throw overboard can be confusing. Seek a safe harbour through the healthy masculine of the Sun and Jupiter in Gemini. Act on your loftiest goals. This is not the time for sensuality and sense gratification, but for sensibility and sensitivity.
Aditya astrology: Aryamaa relates to the heart chakra and the external world. Saturn reveals lack of vision and harms Venus (support of friends). Lean on Mars and Jupiter: the dharma warriors within.
26 May — Mercury joins the Sun and Jupiter in Gemini (Varuna)
Vedic astrology: Mercury is strong in Gemini and helps us use our logic and reason to bring rewards related to information, business, and groups. While Mercury benefits from Jupiter’s generosity, Jupiter is harmed by Mercury which can cause us to be too focused on external fulfilment. Stay true to your heart.
Aditya astrology: Varuna relates to all encompassing Love: the Sun and Jupiter do well here. Mercury also helps by allowing us to choose beneficial options that support desires true to our nature.
25 May thru 21 June — Saturn aspects Jupiter by sign, then by square
Thru 21 June or so, Saturn’s foray into Aries creates a bumpy road. Our need to survive diminishes Jupiters brilliance and optimism. Let your enthusiasm guide necessary choices, not your pain body, worry, or concern. Saturn in Aries can bring change; much is what the doctor ordered for you to blossom.“Thank you, God, for this good life and forgive us if we do not love it enough.”
~ Garrison Keillor, American author, singer, creator of radio’s The Prairie Home Companion
Dear wonderful neighbour and fellow traveller;
The only thing you need in your life to make it flow like honey is to increase your capacity to perceive life as it really is. To discover how, we can look towards those enlightened wonders who live in a state of complete awareness — think Sherlock Holmes on steroids. There is nothing they need do; their life is simply an extension of living untouched by a conditioned mind. They exist solely to lead us to this same natural state — our natural state.
Many years ago in upstate New York while walking along a wooded path at the ashram of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, a self-realised spiritual master, I came upon her gazing into the woods. She was alone and turned to me as I approached with a big smile. Without a word, she pointed silently towards a thick group of trees. I desperately tried to see what she wanted me to notice, but all I saw was bark and branches and a thousand different leaves. After what seemed an eternity, the gods must have had mercy on me for she gestured again towards the woods and this time I saw it; a hummingbird’s nest about fifteen meters away. Hummingbirds are not naturally found in Europe, so for my European friends, a hummingbird’s nest is about the size of half a walnut shell. It was the first time I had seen one in nature. What struck me most, however, was the incredible state of perception required to notice that teeny-tiny nest on a small branch among hundreds of other branches…
From their heightened state of aliveness, spiritual masters also perceive the Gordian knots we carry inside, the castle walls we hide behind that prevent us from living life to its fullest possibility. During the beginning of my ten-year stay in the ashram, I was assigned to the kitchen to assist the head chef with breakfast for the four-hundred staff who stayed through the winter. Breakfast consisted of oats, fruit, toast, chai, and a delicious savoury porridge developed by Gurumayi’s guru consisting of grains, ginger, dates, fresh coconut, chilis, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, salt, and several spices associated with Indian cuisine — jeera, ajwan, and dhanya. To work, each ingredient required perfect balance or whoever made it would suffer the indignation of hundreds of diners. 😁
At that time, I was young and impatient which is another way of saying I was not paying much attention to what the head chef was doing. He told me to stir what needed stirring and simmer what needed simmering. He’d toss cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamon into the chai telling me “about this much” for each, then ask me to turn my attention to an industrial blender where he’d blend several of the ingredients for the savoury cereal to be added to the grains and spices simmering in a steamer — all 300 litres of it.
After about a week, I went into the kitchen one morning at the usual 3AM time slot and waited for the head chef. We were expecting higher numbers for breakfast as the Christmas retreat was just beginning. I looked at the clock as the minutes ticked by, perhaps a bit nervously. Where was the chef? Just then, the ashram manager came through the door looking jovial and upbeat and straight at me — a sure sign I was about to pay off a karmic debt.
“Hi, David! Yesterday, Gurumayi sent the head chef to Australia to help organise the kitchen at the Melbourne ashram. You are on your own this morning making breakfast, but I do have helpers to bring it out to the dining hall. It needs to be ready at 7AM sharp. Have fun!”
I stood there unmoving, not by choice, but because I had forgotten how to move. When she got to, “You are on your own” my mind was not able to register anything else. There was no use trying to explain how I didn’t know how to make breakfast. The curtain had lifted, the show was on, but I was still getting dressed.
“Oh, by the way, an influx of participants came in for the Christmas retreat. You’ll need to make breakfast for 2000 guests — perhaps 2100 to be on the safe side.” She relayed this information to me like she was telling me about a new pair of shoes she had just bought. No worries. All is well. Have fun!
After I regained my ability to breathe, I immediately went into a desperate search of the kitchen filing cabinet. Surely the recipes were written down somewhere… anywhere! And just as surely, I discovered they were not. These recipes had been part of ashram life for as long as the ashram had been around. They were stamped into the minds of all the cooks… but I wasn’t a cook. I was just a helper — or so I thought.
The irony of the situation did not escape me. I had a computer science degree, yet I was put in the kitchen to replace a Culinary Institute trained chef who was placed in the, you guessed it, computer department. She barely knew how to find the on/off switch on the computer and I had made not much more than a PBJ sandwich. My greatest accomplishment was toasting the bread before slabbing on the peanut butter.
As we hear so often from the gurus themselves, the guru we seek is not found in the guru’s body, but in the guru principle they imbibe. There are many anecdotes of Gurumayi’s guru admonishing crowds of gawking onlookers to stop looking towards the guru’s physicality for answers and embrace the guru inside. Sadhguru, too, has said the guru is not a body, but a principle that permeates Life. It’s our task to plug into this aspect of the guru’s unlimited nature even as we are enjoying the guru in physical form.
As it turned out, I made breakfast on time though I lost 5 kilos of body weight in the process. In the midst of sheer terror, I was able to piece together the recipe with the help of a memory in desperation mode and a guru principle which did not want 2000 guests starting their day with indigestion. The real breakthrough, of course, happened within me. I learned a valuable lesson to live life as a participant and not a spectator. Along the way, a good dose of pride melted away replaced by shock and awe in the power of the guru’s grace.
For the next couple of years, Jupiter and Saturn will be playing a game of hide and seek and how we play the game is more important than the results. As Sadhguru teaches, the success we seek is a natural result when we become awake in our own life. Saturn is our karmic destiny whose path is changed only by right action in the right moment. Jupiter is the grace that is always present in our life to make it happen…
All we have to do is care.

No worries! As a symbol of the feminine quality, the Moon represents your capacity to receive. In this sense, the Moon is about recognising the resources you have available and using them for your benefit. Too often, we do not recognise what is available around us to make our life more fulfilling. Instead, we get distracted with what is not ours to have and miss out on the available opportunity, experiencing disappointment and disillusionment… or worse, like the poor fellow in the photo.
Tuesday, 27 May: New Moon in Gemini (03:02 GMT)
New Moons are best spent quietly in meditation and reflection to allow for latent insights to rise to the surface so you can allow them to work their magic.
ALERT: Occurring this week in Gemini, the new Moon will be sign-aspected by Saturn. In short, Saturn is a planet of letting go and the Moon the planet of emotional needs. Thus, Saturn’s influence on the Moon indicates a tendency to fulfil emotional needs through people, things, and situations that are not even karmically possible leading to disappointment. This is also indicated when Saturn squares the Moon late Wednesday (28) and early Thursday (29).
Antidote: This week, give more power to the good intentions of your Jupiter and less to Saturn’s survival instinct so your actions become more selfless and less self-absorbed. Since Mercury is a bit of a troublemaker this week, double check what you propose then check it against someone you trust.
Auspicious day: the second day after a New Moon is considered especially auspicious to start new projects as the Moon has begun its journey towards full.Important upcoming dates (2025)

Saturn: The Price We Must Pay
Issue 21 Volume 8 19 May 2025
“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.” ~ Eric Arthur Blair (George Orwell) (1903 – 1950) was an English novelist, poet, essayist, journalist, and critic famous for his novel 1984. Astrology Monday:
Just the facts, please!
In the land of ’60s American television, hard-boiled detective Joe Friday always insisted on “just the facts”. Here’s this week’s no-nonsense forecast:
20 May — Sun joins Jupiter in Gemini (Varuna)
Vedic astrology: An influx of the masculine brings reward through the faculties of logic and reason. Step back and re-evaluate where you are heading as a botanist might examine the health of a forest. Remember to see the forest AND the trees.
Aditya astrology: Varuna relates to the loving embrace of Life: the Sun and Jupiter do well here. Slow down; be kind to yourself. Your path and way forward is revealed during quiet times.
25 May — Saturn joins Neptune and Venus in Aries (Aryamaa)
Vedic astrology: Saturn in Aries is a bit like a ship at sea taking on water during a storm. Knowing what to keep and what to throw overboard can be confusing. Seek a safe harbour through the healthy masculine of the Sun and Jupiter in Gemini. Act on your loftiest goals. This is not the time for sensuality and sense gratification, but for sensibility and sensitivity.
Aditya astrology: Aryamaa relates to the heart chakra and the external world. Saturn reveals lack of vision and harms Venus (support of friends). Lean on Mars, the dharma warrior within you.
25 May thru 9 June — Saturn aspects Jupiter and Sun by sign
In Vedic astrology, aspects also occur as whole sign aspects. Thus, beginning 25 May, Saturn aspects the Sun and Jupiter by sign. Saturn relates to survival and Jupiter encourages revival. Let your zest for life guide practical decisions and necessary choices, not your pain body, worry, or concern. The world is fine; it’s the prescription of your perception that needs correction. 😉Dear Wonderful Neighbour;
Let’s chat about Saturn. It’s going into a difficult sign on 25 May, so maybe a chat can reveal a plan of action.
Saturn is the price you must pay if you are to assume your rightful place on the throne of eternal joy. Saturn represents the unravelling of your karmic trajectory and is the medium through which you learn to keep what is beneficial while letting go what is not. Saturn always gives you what you deserve — even if it hurts — but it is the elephant goad that keeps you moving in the right direction towards the ultimate realisation.
In world affairs, Saturn needs a healthy Jupiter lest its power goes unchecked resulting in trials and tribulations and never ending misery. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, Saturn (authority) was very strong, while Jupiter (good fortune) was debilitated. Saturn is a planet of destiny, the karmic price we must pay for what has occurred in the past and Jupiter is our highest conscience, truth, and selfless intent. Thus, it was through the door left ajar by Jupiter’s weakness that Saturn rectified the world’s karmic debt, but the fee exacted was high: hardship, calamity, and death.
On a personal level, even as millions were dying, some people thrived: it all depended upon one’s individual karmic trajectory. What is significant to understand is that most of the world acts unconsciously, including its leaders, so much of life simply unfolds the way it does because the conditioned mind does not perceive what is best. The world exists on autopilot.
According to social psychologists, all inputs, including familial, environmental, social, cultural and economic, impress themselves upon the developing mind affecting behaviour, choices, attitudes and what we consider valuable and significant. However, like all impressions, value and significance are not set in stone; rather, they are like a sailing ship on the open sea whose direction is dependent not only upon the wind but whether the sails are unfurled. Likewise, what we consider valuable and significant is influenced not only by external circumstances and events, but by a changing inner landscape which allows us to “unfurl the sails” when opportunity presents itself.
A healthy Saturn rids you of what you don’t need so your authenticity can shine forth. In this way, Jupiter’s unconditional Love becomes your inspiration and you perform deeds for the good of all. This is why an unchecked Saturn (as during the pandemic) can be so devastating: it causes one to indulge their pain, blocking the brilliance of their authenticity (Sun). A healthy Saturn and Jupiter are both needed to evolve and when one or the other is challenged astrologically as we experienced during the pandemic and are about to again beginning 25 May, progress becomes more difficult to experience.
On 25 May, Saturn enters Aries, its debilitation, and about two weeks later on 9 June, Jupiter enters Cancer, its exaltation. Saturn is the foundation of all things, the root, the earth. Jupiter is water and takes the shape of what you give it. In Cancer, Jupiter needs the dispassion and objective thinking of Saturn to keep it from becoming needy. Jupiter is also the fire of purification that must be endured to enable us to bring good to the world. Saturn’s structural integrity helps Jupiter maintain itself as a force of revelation and not a conflagration fuelled on greed and self-righteous indignation.
Best-selling author Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev pointedly reminds us, “Your mind is not your own. It is a complex amalgamation of all kinds of influences. The more you are identified with it, the further away you are from yourself.”
We are not the body, we are not the mind, and we should not fan the flames of such falsehoods in ourselves or others. Saturn in Aries can be uncomfortable and disjointed as we look for something to hold onto. The world can at best only give us a temporary hold while we catch our breath. The real answer lies in allowing the strength of our magnanimous Jupiter to make the world a better place.
Seek truth. Practice kindness without it becoming narcissistic. Jupiter will be strong over the next two years, and this alone can soothe the aches and pains of our Saturn.

Moon Planner
Has the Moon got you hurried and harried?
No worries! The Moon represents your capacity to receive, a feminine quality, and recognising the resources you have available to fulfil your emotional needs. Too often, we get distracted with what is not ours and miss out on the available opportunity, experiencing disappointment and disillusionment… or worse, we become like the poor fellow in the photo — Mr Lou Garou. 😉
Moon Gauntlet:
The Moon goes through a bit of a gauntlet this week and so do our emotional needs:
Yesterday, 18 May:
Moon conjunct Pluto in Aquarius: Pluto asks the Moon to look closely at the emotional needs. Perhaps they are not as critical as one might imagine.
Thursday, 22 May:
Moon conjunct Saturn in Pisces: Saturn’s influence causes the Moon to needlessly worry and fret. To make matters worse, Moon’s influence makes Saturn believe the grass is greener in the neighbour’s yard — it’s not.
Moon conjunct Rahu in Pisces: Your Moon just jumped onto the back of a bucking bronco thinking it was just a carnival pony. All you can do is hang on and hope that when it throws you off you land safely!
Moon conjunct Neptune in Aries: Moon and Neptune together are like going for a walk in the early morning fog: silent, mysterious, perhaps discomforting… you never know what you might find there!
Friday, 23 May:
Moon conjunct Venus in Aries: Moon and Venus make for some interesting imaginings, especially in relationships. Today, at least, what you want to happen will have to wait another day. This week’s reminder:Put astrology aside for a moment: transformation begins with your willingness to change. Retrograde Pluto in Aquarius thru 13 October helps you push the reset button. Where in life do YOU want to reinvent yourself?
This week: Saturn/Jupiter previewOn 25 May, Saturn moves into Mars-ruled Aries, its sign of debilitation. Expect the next several weeks to be a bit bumpy as we try to balance a need for caution with our sense of forging ahead. Saturn will suggest prudence and caution, but Mars is well situated in Leo and Jupiter approaches Cancer with joy, its sign of exaltation.
In many ways, this is in reverse of what happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, a strong Saturn starved an already emaciated Jupiter. Saturn is government and Jupiter is truth and we know how that turned out. This time, however, it’s a weak Saturn and a strong Jupiter bouncing off each other offering opportunity and possibility to those who remain grounded and upbeat.
From May 25 thru 9 June, Saturn will aspect Jupiter and the Sun by sign. Typically, Saturn and Jupiter hold each other in check with Saturn being a realist and Jupiter an optimist. However, Saturn’s transit in Aries can indicate too much caution applied to otherwise great opportunities. Use logic and reason to formulate a plan. Weigh the pros and cons and stay objective. Be authentic and real, and avoid all pretence.Transformation Special! He’s turning world order upside down, but it takes equipoise to gauge the impact
Good morning, fellow travellers!
Many of you have expressed a grave concern for the state of the world since Donald Trump took up residence in the Oval Office in Washington, DC. No doubt, Trump is an interesting character, but is he a Hitler incarnate who is turning the world upside down, sowing seeds of hate, and ushering in an era only Damian* would love?
*Damian was the son of the Devil in the 1976 horror film, The Omen, and not a very likeable fellow. 😁
Let us very briefly take up your concern, though at the risk of oversimplifying a complex subject. The more one wades through the cause and effect of decades of ill-advised decisions by those in power on both the right and the left, the more one realises how close we have come to waking up in a world not unlike George Orwell’s 1984 and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Coincidence or by design? Orwell’s tome envisioned a future where society is controlled through propaganda and fear. Huxley’s world, on the other hand, is controlled through mental and emotional conditioning using pleasure, entertainment, and drugs…
Hmm… seems the future has already arrived. 😕
Trump is definitely creating chaos in the minds of global power brokers worried their decades-long grip on controlling the narrative is coming to an end. A cabal of elites, perhaps together, perhaps alone, have been actively supporting forever wars, a widening gap between rich and poor, and loss of personal freedom. They incite discord and create division because once you have labeled someone a victim, you have the means to control them. This is not to say there are not real victims for there are, but as spiritually minded individuals, we know that the greatest resource we have is ourself — not the government. Public policy should make us stronger, not dependent.
As mentioned in a previous issue of this newsletter, the horoscope of Trump reveals a huge ego with vast amounts of self-confidence and bravado (Rahu/Sun in Gemini), a sincere desire to make the world a better place (Jupiter
aspecting Rahu/Sun in Gemini/Varuna), an unstoppable ‘can-do’ attitude (Mars in Leo), and emotional needs he unsuccessfully attempts to fulfil through the external world (Full Moon/Ketu). His strongest asset is his independence and his biggest obstacle is that same independence which can rear its head like a snake and bite those he perceives as weak. He had to grow up fast, but, paradoxically, this also has kept him emotionally immature.
When all is said and done, Trump pledges no loyalty to either the right or left and is vastly misunderstood by most European leaders. Trump is NOT a politician. He is a businessman who looks at the world in terms of profit and loss. Make no mistake: Trump wants to be on the plus side of a deal, but he also understands the value of negotiations and how each party must feel they have gained something. It’s the “art of the deal” and Trump would not be a billionaire real estate tycoon if he did not understand this.
Let’s be very honest: Trump’s personality is what drives people mad. It is not even his policies which, when examined, are mostly common sense practical steps any of us would take to secure our own home. Trump has a huge issue and it is that his personality polarises. Half the world loves him and half the world hates him. His Rahu/Sun is in Varuna, the sign of the all encompassing Love of the Divine Mother… his feelings are sincere, but he also has Saturn/Venus/Mercury in Cancer, a sure sign he riles people with his acerbic wit... and very likely enjoys doing so.
Still, rest assured he is not the demon or anti-Christ so many make him out to be. Indeed, Trump is what the world needs to step back from the precipice. I am not addressing whether his policies will work or not; that’s for another day and another horoscope. What I am suggesting is that Trump is helping us all see where corruption and deceit have long been hiding in plain site behind the labels of both Democrat and Republican. He has stirred the hornet’s nest and they are coming after him with guns blazing, literally and figuratively.
Let’s push the pause button and regard Trump with fresh eyes. Let us resist the temptation of the conditioned mind to fall into the habit of judging the world based upon our personal history. We are all seeking the highest expression of ourself and this begins now. We can go beyond Trump’s personality and consider with objective mind what he is doing as a president and why. We won’t be able to rely on the mainstream media and our favourite social media feed for accurate news, but we can rely on something much greater — our love of truth and our determination to find it.
Here is an interview Sadhguru gave after Trump first took office in 2017 which offers some surprising insights as relevant now as they were then. Edited for space, you can find the complete article here:
Q: Does Trump have an advantage since he has been a successful businessman?
…a businessman-US President could be either a great opportunity or disaster. If he can turn things around, it would be an opportunity. Religious leaders seldom agree on anything. Military leaders are used to confrontation. But Trump as businessman is talking about making deals. For example, he wants to be friends with Russia; maybe this will end the longstanding cold war, setting a positive example for the future of Indo-Pak (India-Pakistan) and North-South Korea relations.
But deals have to also be sustainable. When deals are made, whether in the marketplace or in a marriage, both sides have their expectations, so some compromises may have to be made. I’ll advise Trump to approach the world from a completely new context – not to look at people as ‘my friends’ or ‘my enemies’ but as what’s good for you and me – what way can America contribute to other people and what can other people contribute to America? People have changed; transactions have changed. So Trump’s Presidency is a new business opportunity, not for himself, but for the people of America and others, worldwide…
Q: What should be the attributes of Trump as US President?
Sadhguru: If Trump has to succeed as leader of the most powerful nation, he should be aware that with that great power comes great responsibility. The world has certain expectations of a US president; to serve the whole world. Right now the language out there is “America First”– but in terms of business, not in military terms. In business, both parties will have their own leverage. But in military, if you are powerful, I die. In Trump’s cabinet, there are several businessmen, so we can hope for good deals. So far, we are used to politicians using slick language but Trump talks straight; what you see is what you get.
Q: What other specific advice would you give Trump?
Sadhguru: Since Trump talks too soon and talks and tweets a lot, I would say now you should talk less, listen and do more. Then a lot of things will change. Maybe someone should take away his Twitter handle! He should look within. As leader, you need spirituality to gain inner experience. If you make 25 people with spiritual insight as heads of 25 nations, they will change the world. Give me 25 top leaders for five days and see what happens!
In this interview, Sadhguru has shared a treasure trove of what it means to live as a true human being. Though his words are about Trump, we can all feel the truth of what he says for each of us. Our destiny is wide open. let our hearts be, too.
