    Free Event! Mahashivratri 2025

    A Night of Awakening
Mahashivratri (FEB 26; Live webcast) is one of the most important celebrations in India and recognises a natural alignment of the Sun and Earth that creates a tremendous spiritual opportunity. Mahashivratri commemorates the divine wedding between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati representing the union of the masculine and feminine energies, the harmonious interplay necessary for cosmic order and creation.

Sadhguru says this about this auspicious opportunity:

On this night, the northern hemisphere of the planet is positioned in such a way that there is a natural upsurge of energy in a human being. This is a day when nature is pushing one towards one’s spiritual peak. It is to make use of this, that in this tradition, we established a certain festival which is nightlong. To allow this natural upsurge of energies to find their way, one of the fundamentals of this nightlong festival is to ensure that you remain awake with your spine vertical throughout the night.

For a more in-depth explanation of Mahashivratri and why it is such a powerful opportunity for families, entrepreneurs, and spiritual seekers, follow this link.

The live webcast includes a talk and midnight meditation by Sadhguru.

    Yogi’s Corner: Science Backs Meditation

Do you know that scientists from the University of Indiana and Rutgers University recently discovered that regular meditation can improve short-term and sustained mental health, improve the blood lipid profile, and reduce systemic inflammation (peer-reviewed study)? This follows a 2012 study from Stanley Medical College in India that found an improvement of cardiovascular health in regular meditation practitioners. To read a more user friendly breakdown of these studies and others, visit the Isha Yoga science page.

Though these studies were based upon Isha Yoga meditation practices, whatever path you follow, the important thing is to follow it consistently.

    Earth Day April 22, 2022

Never in the history of human life has humanity been at such a significant crossroad. With so many challenges facing us, we are tempted to throw up our hands in consternation and say, “What else could possibly go wrong?” In such a predicament, we don’t often know where to put our limited time and resources and so we look for distractions to help take our mind off the world’s problems. However, there is a new global campaign that seeks to resolve what many scientists consider is our most pressing concern, asking for nothing save our willingness to tell others.

Taurus is an earth sign and the campaign to save our soil makes this coming Earth Day especially relevant. With the sun in Taurus, now is the perfect time to raise awareness that will end soil degradation and desertification by becoming an “earth buddy”. Doing so has the potential to cause a cosmic shift in how governments approach the health of our planet and literally save humanity from running out of arable land, a possibility the United Nations has set at only 60 years in the future. This would have an absolutely devastating impact on geopolitics causing countries to go to war with each other simply to feed their hungry masses.

There is a solution and it’s not rocket science. This has been known since at least the 1930s. First, though, we all need to speak up.

  • Spring Equinox: A Chance for Balance

The spring equinox, a time when light and darkness are in balance, is a reminder that the forces of nature within us can be in perfect harmony. This is especially true for our masculine and feminine energies. Typically, one or the other dominates within us. In reality, however, when these qualities are in perfect balance within us, we become balanced human beings.

According to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, yogi, mystic and NY Times best-selling author, having the masculine and feminine qualities balanced within us, regardless of the sex of our body, makes a balanced human being.

All physical manifestations can only happen between polarities — positive–negative, masculine–feminine, Shiva–Shakti, man–woman. The moment we create a divide between the polarities, judgments about perceived superiority and inferiority between the two arise. Out of these judgments, many layers of confusion, ugliness, and exploitation have occurred. Male and female are just manifestations of either the masculine or the feminine being present in an enhanced way. The fact that you are sitting here as a woman does not mean that your father does not exist within you, and the same applies to men and their mothers, of course. If you recognise this truth and nurture both the masculine and the feminine within you so that they are on an even keel, you will be a balanced human being. If you only nurture the masculine, the crassness of machismo will find expression. If you only nurture the feminine, an excessive sense of decorativeness and emotion will find expression.

During this natural time of balance, seek balance in your own life. Pay attention to how you are in your day-to-day interactions with people: family, friends, work colleagues or strangers. Life, itself, is the greatest teacher.

  • Who Are You?

This happened in the Cincinnati Airport. A very important looking man rushed into the airport. There was a long line at the check-in counter. This man jumped the line, went straight to the counter and thrust his passport and his ticket. The lady at the counter said, “Sir there is a line, please stand in line.” He said, “No, No. I am in a hurry. I need to go.” She said, “No please go stand in the line.” Then he said, “Do you know who I am?” She promptly picked up the microphone and said, “There is a man here who doesn’t know who he is, can somebody help him?”

Nobody can help him because everybody is in the same state. Everybody is existing here without knowing the essential nature of who he is. Without knowing the very fundamentals of what this is, we are trying to make a life. That is the whole confusion.

The question, “Who am I?” is the most profound question in your life.

If you don’t know who you are, do you know anything else for sure? If you do not even know who you are, will you be capable of knowing who someone else or something else is?

Once you don’t know who you are, it is one big joke. The only consolation is that the majority of the population is with you.

This is the first and foremost thing you should do with your life. First to know who this is, what is the nature of my existence? If you do not know what is the nature of your existence, you live by accident. Everything is by accident, by assumption and by opinion. There is no reality.

“Who am I?” This question exists, screaming in your body and your mind. If you just remove the surface nonsense, it is screaming within you to know the answer.

When you don’t clear the surface chatter of the mind, “Who am I?” is a mere question. If you clear up your surface nonsense, you will see “Who am I” is just the whole thing.

Nothing else is there. That is the biggest thing.

This question “Who am I” is not really an experiment or a mere question of curiosity. This is something that tears you. Till it tears you apart, you will not know what is inside it.

From a talk by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, mystic, NY Times best-selling author and world humanitarian.
